When your mission is about improving the health of children, you tend to find a lot of common ground with others—whether you're a patient, family member, employee or part of the greater community.
At Cincinnati Children's, we've been fortunate to attract the brightest and the best to work here (see this month's stories about our award-winning nurses and our new administrative fellows). We've also benefitted from the generosity of our supporters (check out our profile of Jim Saporito and his Development team and the late Bill Gerhardt's account of the connection between our organization and P&G).
As important as it is to have the scientific and clinical expertise to produce cures and deliver care, it's equally critical to know how to build relationships and work together, not only with each other but with our partners beyond our walls.
At a time when the world is plagued by political polarization and the lingering isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Cincinnati Children's has excelled at collaboration. We've remained true to the oft-stated mantra: It's all about the kid in the bed.
But much of our work is focused on keeping the kid from needing to be in the bed in the first place. And we're succeeding—because we recognize that none of us can do this alone. We continue to rely on the collective wisdom, compassion and strength of our community to achieve our goals.
