There are so many BIG things that go on at Cincinnati Children's—big discoveries, big initiatives, big buildings.... It's easy to forget that a "big" part of what makes our institution great are the little things that happen every day.

Take our nurses, for instance. We celebrate them in a special way this month, and so we're featuring stories about a few of them in this issue. They provide life-altering services, like helping patients manage their pain, coordinating insurance authorizations (a different kind of pain!) and recognizing when a patient is declining, then intervening before a code has to be called.

Read about staff in Hematology/Oncology who collected sauce packets and other items for a colleague's son stationed in Iraq. Their care packages have greatly enhanced mealtime for our troops.

You'll also learn about our be.well program, which partners with community agencies and organizations to help kids with disabilities access enriching experiences—for their physical, spiritual and emotional development.
