This month marks 2 years since the COVID pandemic forced a seismic change in the way we live and work. We have all adapted and grown to meet the needs of patients and families, but as the stories in this issue illustrate, we don't just meet the needs, we exceed them.

Consider Ryan Moore, MD, and David Morales, MD, who used virtual reality to help one young boy get an inside perspective on his upcoming cardiac surgery.

Take time to read about our outstanding researchers, clinicians and educators who were honored at the 11th annual Faculty Award Ceremony last month. They are tremendous examples of the depth and breadth of talent that drives our mission forward to change the outcome for kids.

As part of that mission, see how we're reaching out to Spanish-speaking members of our community to make COVID vaccines more accessible to populations that are most at-risk.

We also bring you profiles of two strong women from then (Katie Dodd, MD) and now (Nerissa Morris) in recognition of Women's History Month.

And finally, see how the Estep family honors the memory of their daughter, Allison, by giving back to Cincinnati Children's.
