"The best at getting better”—Former Board Chair Lee Carter coined that phrase when Cincinnati Children's launched its quality improvement efforts nearly 20 years ago. It remains our mantra today.

In this issue, we look at how our improvement philosophy applies to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), which has been a founding principle for our organization. So much work has already been done, but we can always do better. That's why we're rolling out a new, comprehensive DEI Strategic Plan that aims to increase awareness of unconscious bias and improve cultural competence.

You'll also learn about Visael "Bobby" Rodriguez, our new vice president of DEI, and meet our outstanding 2021 Faculty Award winners who were honored on February 19.

Then be sure to read about 2-year-old Finley Biddle and how our injury prevention specialist collaborated with a vendor to solve a painful challenge for her.

Finally, check out how two Cincinnati Children's employees are working to engage the Avondale community through art.
